Workshop: When AI Creates Extra Work

Overview

Shaping the use of AI within a team in a considered way

Emails and meeting minutes are increasingly vague, leaving much unclear when read: what exactly are the key points of the text? What is expected of you? Reports and analyses are now sometimes so lengthy that they are read less and less often. Many people are currently finding that, whilst AI produces texts quickly and accurately, this does not reduce the amount of work; rather, it simply shifts the burden onto the recipients of the AI-generated work if the quality is not checked. This is known as „workslop“.

In this online workshop, you will learn how to introduce rules and rituals to prevent ‘workslop’. We will also explore the cultural patterns and incentives that encourage ‘workslop’ in collaborative work, and develop approaches to reshape them.

What we’ll be discussing:

  • Recognising the ‘workslop’ – how to spot in your day-to-day life when work ends up being done by others, and what cost this has for the team.

  • Find out about useful tips and agreements to help reduce work-related stress.

  • Understanding motivations – reflecting, both individually and as a group, on which patterns and incentive structures within the organisation foster a ‘workshop’ culture, and what potential for development can be derived from them.

In this lab, we only touch on technical and legal issues in passing.

Further AI workshops will follow, with the next one taking place on 13 January 2027, when we will be hosting an online ‘future-thinking’ workshop exploring how you and your organisation intend to operate and conduct business in the future in light of the changes brought about by AI.

For whom?

For whom?

The workshop is aimed at volunteers and full-time staff from organisations, whether or not they hold a leadership role. If you’ve noticed that AI can also put a strain on teamwork, or if you want to be more mindful about how you and your team use AI, this is the place for you. No prior technical knowledge is required.
