Digital transformation is not only changing the way school administrators understand their roles, but also challenging old ways of thinking. Headmistress Nicole Stockmann and organisational consultant Andreas Knoth discuss how the culture of digitality is shaping their thinking – and what a contemporary approach might look like.
What is the current approach taken in the school system – and what approach should drive stakeholders in the future? The topic of approach was a key focus on the second day of the Education Digitalisation Conference 2022 at Cafe Moskau in Berlin. In his keynote speech, „Aufbruch zu Digital Leadership“ (Embarking on Digital Leadership), organisational consultant Andreas Knoth outlined the new self-image that players in the educational context need today – and why exnovation must become an essential part of innovation so that the school organisation does not suffer burnout.
In the subsequent panel discussion entitled „Digital Leadership and Culture of Sharing,“ Andreas Knoth debated with Eliane Burri from the Zurich University of Teacher Education, Gabriele Lonz from the Ministry of Education in Rhineland-Palatinate, and headteacher Nicole Stockmann on the extent to which new forms of collaboration support school leaders in shaping change in schools. As headmistress of a dual grammar school that is unique in Germany, Nicole Stockmann is particularly familiar with the topic of cooperation. In a joint interview, Andreas Knoth and Nicole Stockmann talk about their personal views on digital leadership and the culture of sharing.
