Shaping AI transformation within organisations

Socius Laboratory 11-2024

Overview

A Look Ahead Amidst Change – How Can the AI Transformation Be Shaped Within Organisations?

Hardly any other topic is as contentious within organisations at present as AI, nor does any other cause as much uncertainty when it comes to its implementation. Almost all staff use it in their private lives, and many have long been using it in a work context too, though often via personal accounts; yet organisational integration has so far rarely been successful: Over 80 per cent of organisations state that AI has had no noticeable impact on productivity or collaboration over the last three years. Why is this, and what is key to a successful AI transformation?

In this SOCIUS workshop, you’ll gain an overview and have time to assess where your own organisation fits into the framework. We’ll discuss:

  • Understanding paradigm shifts - Why AI is transforming organisations more profoundly than previous waves of digitalisation, and what this implies.
  • Overview: Current situation - What is already possible with today’s tools and how AI is typically used.
  • Typical approaches to AI integration - What matters and what the most common stumbling blocks are.
  • Taking stock - Where does your organisation stand at the moment?
  • A look ahead to the AI-native organisation - what deeply integrated AI might look like, what tech companies are currently planning in this regard, and how this might change the way we work together.

In the remaining workshops in this series, we will be looking at the following:

  • How roles, decision-making and collaboration need to be structured to ensure that, as AI is integrated, people within the organisation remain capable of exercising sound judgement and taking responsibility.
  • How to preserve and strengthen the value of people and the core values of an organisation in the age of AI.
  • What digital sovereignty and security mean in practical and pragmatic terms.
  • What impact AI has on organisational culture.

The workshop is aimed at volunteers and full-time staff at organisations, whether or not they hold management roles. If you want to understand how AI is already changing – and will continue to change – the way organisations work, this is the place for you. No prior technical knowledge is required.
